La Nina is back and may change our winter weather

La Nina is back and may change our winter weather: "PHOENIX - We saw the effects of La Nina earlier this year which contributed to the extreme weather across the globe. She's back and bringing more changes for us this winter.

La Nina occurs approximately every 3 to 5 years and often has back-to-back episodes like we are seeing this year.

It's a naturally occurring phenomenon located over the tropical Pacific Ocean. During a La Nina, cooler-than-average Pacific Ocean temperatures influence weather patterns across the globe.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will issue its winter outlook in mid-October. "
