Oh Christmas tree - East Valley Tribune: East Valley Local News

Oh Christmas tree - East Valley Tribune: East Valley Local News:

"The holidays are still a couple of months away, but it's almost time to get your Christmas tree permit.
The U.S. Forest Service has partnered with 19 commercial vendors across the state to offer the public convenient access to permits. Beginning Oct. 13, the permits will be available for purchase at three Big 5 Sporting Goods stores in the East Valley: 2050 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler; 2930 N. Power Road, Mesa; and 1244 S. Gilbert Road, Mesa.
Each permit costs $15 and is for a specified cutting area of the Apache-Sitgreaves, Coconino, Kaibab, Prescott or Tonto national forests. Some cutting areas offer a very limited number of permits and may sell out quickly, according to a news release. Maps of the cutting areas are available at participating vendors. Cutting season begins Nov. 19.
In addition to commercial vendors, some National Forest offices will sell permits over the counter. Call the Christmas Tree Hotline at (928) 333-6267."
