Arizona home to four of nation's top hospitals - KTAR.com

Arizona home to four of nation's top hospitals - KTAR.com: "According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the rankings were reported by the Joint Commission, an evaluator and accreditor of the nation's health care institutions.

The ranking is derived from 22 measures related to cardiac, pneumonia, surgical and pediatric asthma care, with a 95 percent compliance on two of those measurements being needed.

Chandler Regional Medical Center, Payson Regional Medical Center, Phoenix Children's Hospital and the Phoenix VA Health Care System were named top performers in the commission's report Wednesday.

Only about 14 percent of Joint Commission-accredited facilities qualified as top performers, although quality improvements were seen for 3,000 hospitals nationally."
