Ozone watch issued for weekend in Valley - East Valley Tribune: East Valley Local News: "The Valley is under an ozone health watch Saturday and Sunday. With temperatures expected to reach the triple digits again, indicators are that ozone will rise, according to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
Ozone is an invisible gas created when other pollutants in the air - such as those created by combustion - are heated by the sun. Ozone can irritate the lungs and aggravate existing health conditions such as asthma.
A health watch is issued when ozone levels are expected to approach federal health standards."
