Man apparently swept away during Tucson storm

Man apparently swept away during Tucson storm: "Rescue crews are combing the banks of the Santa Cruz River in search of a man apparently swept away following a powerful thunderstorm on Tucson's south side.

The Northwest Fire District is assisting the Tucson Fire Department with the rescue effort Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say there's been no sighting of the man since he was seen clinging to a Grant Road bridge pillar.

Earlier Thursday, the Arizona Daily Star says a neighborhood was evacuated and motorists were pulled from flooded washes after the storm dropped more than 2 inches of rain. Up to 3 feet of water covered streets near the Tucson International Airport at the storm's height.

The National Weather Service says Tucson has set a September record for monsoon rainfall with 5.22 inches so far this month."
