Lake Powell Chronicle Bikers ready to rally for a cause

Lake Powell Chronicle Bikers ready to rally for a cause: "The Modified Motorcyle Association of Northern Arizona is bringing back a bike ride.

The group, which raises money for Toys for Tots, plans to revive a 20-year-old tradition the weekend of Sept. 23-25.

MMA leaders are planning a rally that will include a poker ride to Lake Powell.

“It’s good for the city and good for our image,” rally chairman and MMA assistant district manager Ray Elshire said. “We just got to thinking about it and it’s getting harder and harder to raise money for Toys for Tots.”

The rally will pick up where an old rally left off. The last time there was a ride to the lake was in 2004, Elshire said.

The event will kick off Friday morning, Sept. 23 at the city park.
