What he wasn't expecting was to help Phoenix firefighters find a stranded hiker on Telegraph Pass Trail at South Mountain Park.
At about 8:30 that Saturday night, Marek, 16, set off on a hike with Mountain Pointe student Lorie Scherrer, who recently moved to Ahwatukee and wanted to see the area."
