Tempe Healing Field opens Friday to honor 9/11 victims: "TEMPE, AZ - Nearly 3,000 flags will line Tempe Beach Park Friday through Sunday to remember those who died in the September 11 attacks.

More volunteers helped set up the Healing Field this year than ever before, said Denise Rentschler with the City of Tempe. 

The Healing Field has been setup on the anniversary of 9/11 for eight consecutive years. 

There are 2,977 flags. Each represents a person who died. There is a name card attached to each pole which gives details about the person. "
