Protesters Rally Against Government Bailouts

Protesters rallied outside a Bank of America in central Phoenix Friday as part of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement.

They gathered in front of the branch near Camelback and Central Avenue. They're protesting the government's bailout of banks. They blame banks and mortgage lenders for the housing mess, and they say corporations should be taxed -- just like American citizens.

The rally is in conjunction with protests outside of Wall Street during the past week.

"The thing that upsets me the most is the fact that people are losing their jobs, unemployment rates are ridiculously high, people can barely feed their families if they can at all. the mass, a very large portion of the population is on food stamps now, which is almost in parallel with the great depression," says protester Paul Swek.

These activists call themselves "the 99 percent," representing what they say are the number of Americans fed up with the government pumping taxpayer dollars into financial institutions.
