Three new condor chicks a first for northern region

Three new condor chicks a first for northern region: "For the first time, three condor chicks have hatched in Arizona during one breeding season in northern Arizona.
That's a new record.
The chicks bring the total number of endangered California condors in the world to 396, according to The Peregrine Fund.
In the 1980s, the population of the large birds had shrunk to just 22.
"We are delighted to see our wild population reproducing and increasing their numbers on their own," said Eddie Feltes, field manager for The Peregrine Fund in northern Arizona and southern Utah. "Three chicks in one year increases our confidence that this endangered species will thrive again someday without our assistance.""
