Flagstaff receives $3.5 million airport grant

Flagstaff receives $3.5 million airport grant: "An end to the stalemate over a federal agency's budget has freed up $3.5 million for a repaved taxiway at Flagstaff's Pulliam Airport.
But the grant, which was formally accepted Tuesday by the Flagstaff City Council, comes too late for work to begin this year.
"It's just too expensive to begin work this fall, then have to shut it down for the winter and start again in the spring," said Barney Helmick, the airport director.
Congress failed to pass the FAA's annual appropriation earlier this summer when party leaders became embroiled in a dispute over union organizing rights at the agency.
After it was resolved, the earliest FAA administrators could issue grant documents was last week."
