Scottsdale traffic stop results in breakup of identity fraud ring: "What started as a Scottsdale traffic stop in 2008 ended in nine members of a criminal identity fraud ring convicted to more than 100 years in prison, Maricopa County officials said Tuesday.

The last of the suspects, Anthony J. Merrick, 44, of Phoenix was recently sentenced to 35 years in prison. He was convicted July 29 in a Maricopa County Superior Court on charges including fraudulent schemes, theft, forgery and taking the identity of another.

County Attorney Bill Montgomery made the announcement Tuesday at his office, standing with prosecutors and Scottsdale police officials."
